We caught up with UK rapper/singer SP Sargeant.
Introduce yourself and tell us where you are from?
My stage name is SP Sargeant. I grew up in Newham. Orginally I started playing and making Steel Pan (the musical instrument). Then I started rapping and singing.
After 20 years of playing Steel Pan, I played the Tenor Pan which subconsciously trains your voice. I’m half Irish and half St Vincent in the Caribbean, but I live in the UK.
What artists did you listen to and get inspiration from when you were growing up?
2pac, Juice WRLD, Drake, Future, J Cole, Prince, and Notorious Big.
How did you get into making music?
It’s part of my culture and through Steel Pan playing.
What releases have you released so far?
I released my first album, Knowledge Is Power. plus my Ep 444 and Rare Type.
What is your latest release tell us about that?
My latest release is Rare Type. It’s about me being a rare type. The way I think and what I chose to value in life. Even though I came from nothing and shouldn’t be as educated as I am.

Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify and all other digital platforms.
What are your social media YouTube links?

What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
My biggest achievement is creating my own production team. On top of that I have 300k streams on Spotify which isn’t bad for a year of releasing music.
What have you got planned next?
More great music and singing now as so far I’ve only been rapping.
Anything you want to add or shout out?
For people to follow their dreams. Music was always a passion for me but I always put it to the side because of insecurities.
